More Than Money Programme
The JA More Than Money Programme teaches participants about earning, spending, sharing and saving money as well as advises on businesses they can start or jobs they can perform to earn money.
The programme encompasses economics and business curriculum for learners in grades three through five, emphasizing social studies content while providing a strong focus on mathematics, reading and writing skills.
Through a variety of hands-on activities and technological supplements designed to support differentiated learning styles, learners develop a better understanding of the relationship between what they learn at school and their successful participation in a worldwide economy.
The JA More Than Money experience enhances learners’ classroom curriculum. Learners are encouraged to use innovative thinking to learn money-management skills that support positive attitudes as they explore and enhance their career aspirations.
They are taught about concepts such as advertising, banking, entrepreneurship, money management, service and work ethics, while being taught valuable skills such as active listening, analysis, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, problem solving, self-assessment and team work.
The programme has been designed to offer extended benefit to the learners’ families too: it is packaged in a portfolio that contains detailed session plans, informative take-home flyers for learners and their families, and additional learning materials that add greater value for learners, their teachers, and other people involved facilitating the programme.
